LIVING AND CREATING WITH LOVE AND LOSS

from $125.00

Dealing with loss and grieving can take many forms. It can be the loss of a dear one, the loss of a pet, the loss of a family, the loss of a dream. Loss is everywhere and part of what it means to be human. Creativity plays a huge healing role when it comes to grief. It’s a way to share and find compassion and also to get a lot of these thoughts out of our heads and reconnect together to our humanity.

To paraphrase one of our favorite artists, Nick Cave, from one of his letters to his fans:

Understandably, we feel heartbroken about the world – it can feel like a ruthless place, vindictive, and sometimes it seems personal. But I have realised that it is a moral error to compulsively fixate on the world’s troubles, to elevate ‘the crack in everything’ and not acknowledge ‘the light getting in.’ Our pleasures and joys are not a negation of humanity’s suffering, a betrayal of those we have lost, or the denial of our various griefs. They are the bright, necessary, God-filled articulations of our humanness. We humans are our own howling voids – cracked and beautiful things pierced by light.”

Discover the healing and creative power of our group. Whether it concerns you or a loved one, you can develop your emotional support and build the relationships you need to heal and create your life.

We offer sliding scale fees for lower incomes. Let’s discuss what works best for you and I to work together. Participating in a social therapeutic group is creating a therapeutic community together and talking about how we can contribute financially is part of it. Email: aurelie@womanityplay.com

Creating with others is almost like a cleansing ritual. We can generate new narratives out of our story and channel the energy of how we feel deep inside. That’s the role for me in my life that theater, dance, music plays with grief now. It’s just this healing thing. Sometimes that looks like just crying the whole time, but still doing it, pushing through it and still writing, but crying. I lead a creative practice and one of the things I’m always talking about in my group is you make something feel universal by telling a specific story about a specific moment in time, and that’s how you can encourage a universal response and find human connection and healing with others.
